I think the transition period is the most scariest thing a person can face. Back when I did not know how to drive, I often imagined myself driving places, and driving a nice car, but the transition or learning period between knowing and not knowing did not sit with me. When I decided to be baptized in the name of Jesus, I knew I was miserable with my life, I thought about how life could possibly be, but thinking about what I was going to have to give up, and change made me delay my decision.
It seems I am at that transition point once again. Moving from the work place to self-employment. I can imagine myself succeeding at my job, I can see my quality of life improving, I can see myself putting my priorities in the right order. However the idea of not knowing how much money I will make, the idea of the extra responsibility, the idea that self-employment is not a smooth ride, the idea that either nobody think I am capable of doing this or simply have not expressed that I could, makes this transition unsettling.
The only thing I know to hold on to is the fact that it took Thomas Edison 10,000 tries to create a functioning light bulb. God called Abraham from everything he was familiar with, and sent him off to a place he never even imagined existed. Bill Cosby was considered an underachiever, but after his mind clicked he went on to be a successful actor with a Doctorates degree.
The bottom line is, you don’t know where a decision will place you, until you make the decision.
